This little fish’s head looks like that of a horse, which is where it gets its name. Sea horses drift along upright, using the dorsal fins on their backs to move them-selves forward.
Sea horses have the ability to move their eyes in different directions, so they can search for food and keep a lookout for predators at the same time. Knysna sea horses are unique to South Africa.
They are endangered and live in the Knysna, Swartvlei and Keurbooms estuaries.
